Microsoft seems happy to announce that its Bing search engine now has more than 90 million users and has grown by 48% since its launch one and a half-year ago.
At Bing summit in San Francisco, Microsoft Senior Vice President of Research and Development provided an overview of the search engine’s current state.
He stated a recent comScore report concluding, Bing now commands 11.8% explicit market share, up 48% since its launch in June 2009. Bing also claims it has seen 72% growth in “heavy and medium users.” The growth of specialized searches in areas like music, travel and shopping have been phenomenal according to the spokesperson. He cited music specifically as experiencing “8x growth.”
Bing has experienced 224% mobile app growth and 5.5 million iPhone app downloads, making it one of the most popular IOS apps of 2010. Bing after its partnership with Yahoo has increased its reached to 28% of the U.S. market, though still less than half of that of Google, but its growing.
